Turkish Getup and DO IT

My last blog post was June 28...where does time go? It goes to renovations, travels to see family and low energy levels. The good news is that I am back and I think I ROCKED tonight's WOD. :)

So how did I feel?
I have to admit, I felt sluggish going to tonight's WOD. It's so easy to stay away from the gym in the summer, but the one thing I have to remember is that I'll feel better once I'm there and a hell of a lot better once it's over. I have more energy after the WOD paired with a huge sense of accomplishment. I have to give John props tonight, he didn't give me shit for not being there for the past week; instead, he commented on how much I've slimmed down. Now that's motivation, thank you John!

So how did I do?
I really liked tonight's WOD for a couple reasons. 1. I forgot my water bottle, which means I drank less during my workout and therefore had a faster time than usual. 2. We learned some new skills. 3. I completed the following in less than 19 minutes (18:36 to be exact):
  • 30 Box jumps (12 inch) x3
  • 20 Pull ups x3
  • 30 Curves x3
  • 20 Kettle bell swings x3
The warm up was 3 minutes of skipping rope and 5 sets of 3 box squats (95 lbs x3 sets; 115lbs x2 sets). Our new skill was called the Turkish Getup (see the "Exercises" tab) with 30lb then 50lb KB weights. It was fun!

What is my short term goal?
I've booked an image consultation in Edmonton, AB from October 21-23, 2011 to review my wardrobe and shop for new clothes. I'm going for a new look that will best flatter whatever body type I'll have by then. I'm hoping that ALL of my clothes I take down for the consultant to critique will no longer fit properly (be too big). It'll be like a "What Not to Wear" episode, without the video cameras. Shopping is my least favorite thing to do in the world, so I'm hoping that this will motivate me and that every piece of clothing I try on will fit perfectly, without having to go back to the rack for a bigger size. :) For information on the consultant I've picked, please refer to the "Resources" tab.

Thank you!
